Pattie Porter Firestone is a sculptor, teacher, designer and arts activist.  Born in Atlanta, GA, Pattie majored in studio art at Mt. Holyoke College in Massachusetts, and briefly studied under Wayne Thiebaud and others at the New York Studio School’s program in Paris.  Pattie taught K-12 art in the Washington, DC area before moving to Los Angeles where she and two other artists started the Westside Arts Center (WAC) in Santa Monica. WAC was an after-school arts program filling the void of elementary school arts instruction after CA Proposition 13 cut most school arts programs. After 13 years in LA in the 1980’s, she returned to Washington, DC where she focused on creating both indoor and outdoor metal sculptures. The American University Museum, Katzen Arts Center presented her one-person multi-media show in their sculpture garden with composer Barbara Buchanan. Firestone was President and served on the board of the Washington Sculptors Group (WSG) for 20 years. WSG is an association of 400 regional sculptors and art collectors in the DC area.  She also designs wearable art with her 3D-printed Chinese character earrings and pendants now available at the Santa Barbara Museum of Art shop. Pattie moved to Santa Barbara in 2016 where she is on the Docent Council Board as a docent at the Santa Barbara Museum of Art and on the Westmont College Art Council.
