Meet Your Connector

Andrea Lange (she/her) Class of 1971

Andrea Lange ‘71, holds a Master’s in Judicial Administration and Planning and a PhD in Criminology/Sociology both from American University, and her BA from Mount Holyoke in Political Science. Prior to her retirement in 2019, she was the Associate Provost and Dean at Washington College in Chestertown, MD and served on the criminology/sociology faculty there as an Associate Professor. During the 1990’s she was an Assistant Professor at American University in Washington, DC teaching undergraduate and graduate courses on the main campus and experiential learning courses in the Washington Semester Program available to students from other colleges and universities worldwide. She continues as a Professorial Lecturer at American within the Department of Justice, Law and Criminology, School of Public Affairs.

Between faculty appointments, she served ten years as a Senior Project Manager at Aspen Systems/Lockheed Martin supervising large-scale multi-million dollar projects sponsored by the U.S. Departments of Justice and Health and Human Services including the National Human Trafficking Resource Center. During that tenure she stood up a number of victim related call centers, administered the National Criminal Justice Reference Service, and contributed to the growth of the Office of Justice Programs marketing and outreach.

Dr. Lange has served as a technical consultant, planner, and evaluator to both commercial and government clients, published in the fields of white- collar criminology, the administration of justice, and juvenile delinquency and regularly reviews books on human trafficking topics. She has served on the boards of several non-profits in Maryland and now in California where she currently resides. As a MHC volunteer over the decades, she has had different roles, but is currently the Head Class Agent and Class Vice-President for ’71. She was part of the fundraising team that shattered an all- time giving record for 50th reunions by providing the college with over $2.56 million in gifts last year.

She recently led a strategic planning initiative via Zoom for the Rotary International Club of El Segundo and looks forward to facilitating a 3- year plan for the Southern California MHC Club with you!
